More and more companies are recognizing the service advantage of SMS. SMS are not used directly to advertise, but they are used to To satisfy customers. And, as is well known, satisfied customers not only become more frequent customers; they also spread word-of-mouth advertising.

A simple service measure is to simply inform customers about the status of their order via SMS. For example, a shipping carrier can inform the customer about the dispatched package via SMS, the doctor can confirm the agreed appointment via SMS, and the hotel can resend the booking details via SMS. Send SMS. These are basically all the data that could also be sent via email, but SMS is preferred by customers to an overwhelming extent because it is more direct and faster, and at the same time, compared to the competition, it shows that the company is putting more effort into it.

Informing the customer about the current status of an order or a purchase shows them that work is being done for them and that there are progress being made; this also makes delays or long wait times noticeably shorter.

As a small example, you order a taxi and shortly thereafter receive a message that taxi number 123 is on its way to you. After the ride, you receive a message:

„Thank you for your ride. We wish you a nice day and are always available to help you with your taxi order at 030-1234567!“

Both messages are certainly not necessarily necessary, but they complement the service for less than 10 cents by providing good customer service and surely create a positive surprise for the customer.

The advantages of SMS clearly outweigh the disadvantages, especially considering that it costs only a few cents to send a SMS. On the technical side, SMS delivery can be practically implemented in any application with extremely minimal effort.
