Why codes via SMS and phone call are still useful
Passkeys and authenticator apps are on the rise. Nevertheless, most companies continue to rely on codes sent to the phone number. There are good reasons for this.
Honestly: SMS isn't the best choice for everything
SMS codes are not phishing-resistant and can be intercepted during SIM swapping. For particularly valuable accounts, it is best to use them as one factor among several, along with Passkeys or risk-based with the Anti-Fraud Check. Telegram and voice calls as additional channels increase delivery security.

How does the fallback via Telegram, phone call and SMS work?
In the request, you specify an order of priority: first Telegram, then voice call, then SMS. If the code does not arrive on a channel, the API automatically tries the next one. SMS is always at the last place.
How much does a verification code cost?

Do I have to register my sender in every country?
No. In countries without registration requirements, the Verify API from LOX24 assumes the sender for SMS and voice calls. In countries with registration requirements, LOX24 automatically replaces the sender with a generic sender. There is no need to register for each country.
How does the API know if the recipient has Telegram?
The API first tries to deliver via Telegram. If the recipient does not have a Telegram or the code does not arrive within the set waiting time, it proceeds with the next channel. You can set the waiting time between 30 seconds and 60 minutes.

Can I set the code myself?

How do I find out which channel the code arrived via?
The API reports status, routed channel, and costs via webhook. For each step in the routing, there is a separate entry in the history, so you can also see which channels were not successful.
Are SMS codes still secure enough?
