The gym is open around the clock but staffed only during the day. Members who forgot their key fob in the evening or on weekends found themselves locked out. Lost fobs had to be replaced and deactivated in the system, which cost money and administrative time.
The access system is connected via the SMS API. When a member enters their mobile number at the door terminal, the system verifies their membership and sends a personal daily code by SMS within seconds. This code opens the door, and the key fob is now just an option.
